Problems of juvenile delinquency in Korea

A social issue which concerns me are the problems of juvenile delinquency in Korea. Juvenile crime is increasing gradually. When it comes to juvenile crime, there have been fierce arguments. The key issues in this debate are whether juveniles should be punished more in line with adult punishment or whether there should be special treatment for them. In fact, the punishment of juvenile crime is too light in Korea. Courts avoid punishing them too severely to rehabilitate them. In contrast, some people believe that the current law relrating to punishing teenagers should be upheld . Critics believe the state of our education system has caused this problem, so we need to strengthen the education that builds students’ character. However, teenagers should be given the same punishment as adults because victims of heinous crimes committed by teenagers are in pain and their families are also lost in grief.
